**“This is the best walking tour I've ever been on in any country, bar none. The skyscrapers stop being just buildings… but relatable places of living, breathing history.
We actually live in this neighborhood, but somehow John managed to show us all these things we didn't know about the area, and more importantly, injected a quality of magic and wonder into locations on our everyday commute. It was like every corner and every brick had a hidden surprise.”**
That’s what one guest had to say about my signature tour, “Hidden Gems, Great Structures, and Fun Art.” This isn’t your typical New York tour-we skip the usual landmarks and dive into the city’s lesser-known architectural wonders, bridges, and sculptures. You'll hear dramatic, humorous, and often personal stories that bring these places to life. Along the way, we’ll discover whimsical works like Tom Otterness’s The Real World and hidden gems like the stunning Art Deco lobby of 70 Pine Street.
I’m a retired civil engineer who spent over 25 years designing and inspecting structures—including many of NYC’s major bridges and tunnels. My love for the city led me to become a licensed tour guide in 2019, and I’ve been sharing its stories ever since!
I’m also an art lover and a regular at NYC’s museums and galleries. My home away from home is The Metropolitan Museum of Art, where I lead tours for Walks, LLC.
