Here is a round-up of GANYC news as we enter Spring!
1. GANYC member Matt Levy was interviewed by the NY Times for this recent article-- "Trump’s Threat to Annex Canada Is Keeping Tourists North of the Border". The article's author contacted us for information, and we were happy to assist with the piece. Matt was also featured on CBS News about this.
GANYC has been keeping track of this issue, and will continue to advocate on behalf of NYC tourism to journalists and political officials.
2. If you missed the 10th-annual GANYC Apple Awards earlier this month, video is now on our YouTube.
3. Monia Bonaldo is being honored at the The 4th annual Women In Tourism gala, held May 20 at City Winery. She is the honoree in the Tour Guide category. We are proud that, once again, a GANYC member is being recognized at this event. Information here: https://www.cityguideny.com/wit/
4. Patrick Bringley just won an Apple Award for his memoir, All the Beauty in the World: The Metropolitan Museum of Art and Me. He has turned this book into a play! A limited Off-Broadway engagement, at the DR2 Theater on Union Square, runs March 27th through May 18th, 2025. Info: https://www.patrickbringley.com/play
5. Finally, we are proud to announce that our own Emma Guest-Consales has selected by the World Federation of Tourist Guide Associations (WFTGA) as Area Representative for 2025 for North America, Caribbean, and Oceania. Congratulations, and thank you for representing us!
